Root

yourself

in uncomfortability.

Hello! My name is Morgan and I am a queer climate advocate and organizer that is dedicated to the teachings of Intersectional Environmentalism.

The Vision

It’s my goal to take all the doom and gloom in the world and turn that into room to bloom. Instead of centering ourselves in negativity, I want to help people find ways to channel hope, joy, love, and light so that we can collectively manifest the world we want to live in. However, in order to move intentionally we must act “unconventionally” and in doing so, embrace our multidimensionality. In other words, all work starts from within and in order to flower we must first find common ground with others that we are planted around as well as grow against the grain. We might all just be one person, but together we are the seeds of change that can exchange and rearrange the world around us.

Biography

Hello! My name is Morgan Sierra Mae Montana Skye Ku’ulani Brown and I am a multifaceted, queer, activist, organizer, musician, poet, writer, communications specialist and intersectional environmentalist that finds love, passion, and joy through creatively advocating for Environmental Justice. I graduated from Colorado State University with my bachelor's in Human Dimensions and Natural Resources, or Environmental Communications, and a double minor in Political Science and Ethnic Studies. My dream was to take a grassroots approach to Environmental Law and Policy and one month after graduating I found myself doing exactly that as a fellow with The Methane Partners Campaign. One year later I founded my own business, MsB Consulting LLC, where I now work as an Environmental Consultant for various environmental grassroots organizations. The primary organization I consult with is The Green House Connection Center , which interconnects art and activism to create awareness, understanding, healing, transformation and joy to re-matriarch our system and reimagine a future where people’s needs for housing, access to healthy food, equitable transportation, health care, education and thriving environments are a cornerstone for the people that live and work in the Globeville, Elyria, Swansea (GES) neighborhoods, otherwise known as the most polluted zip code in the country. Through this work, I am dedicated to elevating community voice, facilitating grassroots efforts towards environmental law and policy, and organizing events that bring my community together to take action. This brand and blog, 'Morganic Matters' allows me to pursue my own personal activism efforts and discuss how we can all work to live with nature rather than against it. That being said, I am especially passionate about diverting waste away from our landfills within the food and fashion industry, specifically through the creation of regenerative food systems and the elimination of fast fashion.

Through my education, I have had the privilege of learning about some of these injustices and wanted to create a platform where I could discuss these teachings and share my knowledge in hopes of  advocating for these vulnerable communities and the environmental practices that they are already utilizing. We have so much to learn from indigenous communities, yet for centuries we have suppressed their knowledge and their resources, destroying our environment and our sense of community as a result.

While Intersectional Environmentalism is my main aspiration for this platform, I also created this blog as a quieter space for my thoughts and a place where I can post with more intention. While I think other forms of social media can be powerful platforms for advocacy, I think it is easy to lose yourself and the ability to differentiate between posting for you and posting for others. With that being said, I am excited to share my knowledge and the teachings that I have learned either through my own life or through my education and voice my thoughts about the world around me. Even with the knowledge that I have, I still have so much to learn so please don't hesitate to correct me if I misspeak or if you want to voice any of your thoughts or concerns. I want this space to be as inclusive as possible and encourage others to discuss their thoughts about the topics I post so that I can learn more and I can create a space for people to have open conversations.
